Credit has been given to maids

More than 600 maids were given free health check-ups and lectures at the hospital here last sunday. As you know more and more career women go out to work and contribute to the economy.
Maids play an important role to help smoothen their path to success. Maids are the domestic helpers, their hard work needed to be appreciated. Last sunday was an International Women's Day. Dr Susan Lim, chairman of the event, said:" I thought it would begood to do something for the maids who take care of our homes and family and make it possible for us to go to work.
Maids received a thank-you for their hard work. Maids couldn't believed that the medical consultations were free. This credit had been given to maids.
This is really a good move to appreciate their work. We should treat maids like our family member, give them love and care.
What is your view about maids?

I really appreciate this write-up... thanks for having a big heart for the maids...

I strongly agree that we should treat our maids like our family members... we do that in our family. we eat together with our maid... we watched TV and go out together; she is indeed treated like our family member... my mom loves her. I treat her like my big sister as well... that's why it breaks my heart when she finally decided to move on with her career... she's planning to go abroad for the same job. I can't stop her because i know it's a good break for her... but she is always and forever welcome to come back... our door is always open for her....

thanks coolingstar...this is so timely!!!!

Joshuaun,
It is really sad to hear from you that someone think that their money is everything. They treat maids worse than an animal.
This mindset needed to be changed, we should know a person can not success alone. Many factors leading to our success.
I believe there are some good employers treat maids well.
Thanks for your contribution, have a beautiful weekend.

My family have changed more (MORE) than 9 maids in the past 3 years. The longest working with us only stay for 6 months. Other ran away with her boyfriend, stealing money, clothes, and house appliances, associate with burglar to deactivate our alarm system, spreading rumors in the neighborhood until we received a lot of complains, kicking our one and only cat and broke down everything that is peacefully working, such as lamp, sink, or even door knob.

Yes, I agree we must give them credits, but not after they prove to us they deserved the right. Maid that are working in my house should not complain for having much workload, because there ain't any. They just need to clean up my house. We don't even have any small kid. My youngest brother is 19 years old. Besides, all my siblings only stay at home during holiday. And my house not even that big.

We need maid because both of parents are working. Plus, my mum need someone to accompany her especially at nights where my dad are mainly doing his business outstation. But we still failed to find any that us that good. We used to have a local lady as a maid, but she resigned after almost 10 years. And that lady deserved our credits.

vannie,
You have the point, mutual respect is needed between employer and maid.
Maid need to do the work diligently also.
Thanks for your comment, have a nice week.

bluecrystaldude,
I am very glad to receive your comment on maids.
You had the good maid who worked for you for 10 years, it was really a long period and she deserved your credit, thats good. I wish you can have good maid this time also.
Nowadays, maid agency will train maids before sending them for work. I hope maids can go through proper training and be taught what needed to be done, what things not supposed to do like 1.stealing. 2.ran away with her boyfriend. 3.deactivate home security alarm system. 4.spreading rumors in the neighborhood,5.injuring pets,6.damageing things such as lamp, sink, or even door knob.
I hope maid should do the job properly, like clean up house.
I fully understand that you need maid because both of parents are working. Plus, your mum need someone to accompany her especially at nights where your dad are mainly doing his business outstation. Surely you will find the good maid.
I hope maid agency, employer and maid can interact well, so all party will be happy.
Have a wonderful year.

Dear Coolingstar9 and others,
I think you and some of your contributors have oversteped the mark in employer / maid relationship. As a live in maid, I, and also my employers have an understanding about our working relationship. I may work in some cases that a maid becomes "part of the family" or "just like my sister" but familiarity breeds contempt,in some circumstances. I am required to wear a uniform at all times and address my employers and guests as Ma'am and Sir. There are other regulations which we agreed on and some I choose to implement as a way to keep my position as their maid totaly as a maid and not get into the so called "one of the family" syndrome.

i read all of ur posts.. but here in my family.. we dont treat maids equally.. we do give them respect but my mom doesnt like my maid to sit together with us and have lunch.. i asked her why and she was like because maids are maids they should just stay in their limits bla bla.. its like if we give them too much of respect n "treat them like family" they will act like OUR BOSSES.. i noe tht they will coz the same happend with my sis and her maid.. once i went to visit her and saw my sister doing housework and cleaning floor and the maid sitting and eating an apple.. n she was like its a good excersice for her i was like wtf! but they did'nt kick her out coz my sisters husband likes her it seems..
